With our full-service delicatessen, extensive selection of natural remedies and body care, foods for special and limited diets, unrivaled assortment of bulk, local, organic, and fairly traded goods, sustainable seafood and meat department, farmers’ market-quality produce department, and knowledgeable workers, we provide a healthful shopping experience in a community-oriented setting.

Board Supports Bottled Water Exclusion, Wants Owner Input

April 13,  Central Co-op's board of trustees unanimously approved the following motion:

Central Co-op will add single serving plain bottled water (less than one gallon) to the product exclusions list within 12 months; with educational outreach, owner feedback and transition to be coordinated by the General Manager along with affected departments, including Grocery, Cooperative Advancement and Systems. The plan will be guided by owner feedback and will include improved access to free water.

Study Finds Our Prices Competitive with Local Farmers' Market

From CHS blog: "Looking at the Capitol Hill dataset, Madison Market posed to be the toughest competitor to the Broadway Farmers Market. Of the 20 items compared, Madison Market had cheaper prices on 8 items. Prices were the same or equivalent (1 cent difference) on 4 . . . . The average price was $3.82 for a Broadway Farmers Market item, $3.79 for a Madison Market item, $4.50 for a QFC item and $5.33 for Safeway item."
